Narrative:
Clearance to cross 30 DME from pbi VOR at 8000 ft. Prior clearance of descent from FL350 to FL250 already initiated when superseded by this clearance. Failure to monitor FMS resulted in being too high to make altitude restr 30 mi from pbi. When queried by ATC, we advised him we were unable to make restr safely.

Narrative: CLRNC TO CROSS 30 DME FROM PBI VOR AT 8000 FT. PRIOR CLRNC OF DSCNT FROM FL350 TO FL250 ALREADY INITIATED WHEN SUPERSEDED BY THIS CLRNC. FAILURE TO MONITOR FMS RESULTED IN BEING TOO HIGH TO MAKE ALT RESTR 30 MI FROM PBI. WHEN QUERIED BY ATC, WE ADVISED HIM WE WERE UNABLE TO MAKE RESTR SAFELY.
