While cruising at assigned altitude of FL280, TCASII RA alert 'descend.' followed alert, descended to FL276 before advisories 'monitor vertical speed' and 'clear of conflict.' then returned to FL280. Advised ATC immediately of our actions. No further problems.

Narrative: WHILE CRUISING AT ASSIGNED ALT OF FL280, TCASII RA ALERT 'DSND.' FOLLOWED ALERT, DSNDED TO FL276 BEFORE ADVISORIES 'MONITOR VERT SPD' AND 'CLR OF CONFLICT.' THEN RETURNED TO FL280. ADVISED ATC IMMEDIATELY OF OUR ACTIONS. NO FURTHER PROBS.
