Narrative:
The maintenance on this aircraft is tracked using gulfstream's computerized maintenance program. The requirement to check the takeoff alarm system is an airworthiness directive (90-02-05). It has a 150 hour recurrent requirement. Our tracking document was computing this as a 150 landing recurrent requirement. When this error was found, the aircraft had exceeded the inspection threshold by 10 hours. This discrepancy was found during airworthiness directive for using a ferry permit. The ferry permit was unrelated to this maintenance activity. This aircraft is new to our operation. A more thorough effort should have been made to debug the computer tracking system by comparing the chapter 5 requirements with the associated tracking codes and frequencys.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A GULFSTREAM V WAS OPERATED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE FOR 10 HRS IN EXCESS OF A REQUIRED TKOF WARNING SYS CHK. CAUSED BY COMPUTER ENTRY ERROR.
Narrative: THE MAINT ON THIS ACFT IS TRACKED USING GULFSTREAM'S COMPUTERIZED MAINT PROGRAM. THE REQUIREMENT TO CHK THE TKOF ALARM SYS IS AN AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE (90-02-05). IT HAS A 150 HR RECURRENT REQUIREMENT. OUR TRACKING DOCUMENT WAS COMPUTING THIS AS A 150 LNDG RECURRENT REQUIREMENT. WHEN THIS ERROR WAS FOUND, THE ACFT HAD EXCEEDED THE INSPECTION THRESHOLD BY 10 HRS. THIS DISCREPANCY WAS FOUND DURING AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE FOR USING A FERRY PERMIT. THE FERRY PERMIT WAS UNRELATED TO THIS MAINT ACTIVITY. THIS ACFT IS NEW TO OUR OP. A MORE THOROUGH EFFORT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE TO DEBUG THE COMPUTER TRACKING SYS BY COMPARING THE CHAPTER 5 REQUIREMENTS WITH THE ASSOCIATED TRACKING CODES AND FREQS.
