Narrative:
ATC facility: hou tower. Location: departure from runway 12R at 600 ft AGL. We took off on runway 12R from hou. Tower instructed us to turn to heading of 360 degrees after takeoff. During the turn we received a traffic alert on TCASII. At that time we noticed an aircraft head-on 300 ft below. The aircraft, we found out later, was a cessna. The cessna passed below us 300 ft. I called the tower a little later and supervisor told me that the cessna had us visual. We were not told of the cessna during our takeoff.
