Narrative:
My company is a charter operation, 3 B727's. We operate under part 121 supplemental rules. My crew was in a situation where we were scheduled to fly in excess of 24 flight hours in 72 hour period. The possibility that the limitation would be exceeded was told to the company, but we were told we were legal to proceed. A further contributing factor was that we exceeded 8 in 24 domestic on the first day of the 3 day sequence and were given proper 16 hours rest. However, there was confusion on interpretation of the flight time rules on the following 2 days and we exceeded 24 hours in 72 hours international. The company realized the error after the fact and self disclosed to FAA we need a crew scheduler manual, which I will try to make happen. There was no safety related incident.
