Narrative:

Level at 5000 ft and being vectored to bur airport in VMC at night, received a GPWS alert. I was flying and followed the procedures for a GPWS alert. Climbed to 7000 ft and leveled. Captain, then I, got visual traffic on light aircraft at 7000 ft. I returned to 5000 ft with ATC permission, then continued vectors to an uneventful approach and landing.

Title: AN ACR MD80 FLC REACTED TO A TERRAIN WARNING FROM THEIR GPWS. LATER, AT THEIR SAFE ALT, THEY SAW CONFLICTING TFC AND DSNDED BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL ALT.

Narrative: LEVEL AT 5000 FT AND BEING VECTORED TO BUR ARPT IN VMC AT NIGHT, RECEIVED A GPWS ALERT. I WAS FLYING AND FOLLOWED THE PROCS FOR A GPWS ALERT. CLBED TO 7000 FT AND LEVELED.
