Air Traffic Incident | Inter Facility Coordination Failure |
Narrative:
We were arriving via the cince 3 and told to cross tigrr intersection at 11000 ft. ATC further asked us to go fast/keep our speed up. We acknowledged all of this and set 11000 ft in the altitude preselector as we began a high speed descent. Reaching 11000 ft, we set thrust for best forward speed and shortly thereafter went zipping across tigrr. Center then handed us off to approach. Upon checking in with approach, ATC asked if we had been given a slower speed restr at which to cross tigrr. We replied that the previous controller had not issued any specific crossing speed and that we had been instructed to go fast/keep our speed up. Approach appeared to give us a delay/sequencing vector to put us behind a large airliner and nothing more was said on the subject.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LACK OF COORD BTWN CTR AND TRACON RESULTED IN TRACON'S HAVING TO ISSUE DELAY VECTORS AND SPD REDUCTION TO ACR FLT.
Narrative: WE WERE ARRIVING VIA THE CINCE 3 AND TOLD TO CROSS TIGRR INTXN AT 11000 FT. ATC FURTHER ASKED US TO GO FAST/KEEP OUR SPD UP. WE ACKNOWLEDGED ALL OF THIS AND SET 11000 FT IN THE ALT PRESELECTOR AS WE BEGAN A HIGH SPD DSCNT. REACHING 11000 FT, WE SET THRUST FOR BEST FORWARD SPD AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER WENT ZIPPING ACROSS TIGRR. CTR THEN HANDED US OFF TO APCH. UPON CHKING IN WITH APCH, ATC ASKED IF WE HAD BEEN GIVEN A SLOWER SPD RESTR AT WHICH TO CROSS TIGRR. WE REPLIED THAT THE PREVIOUS CTLR HAD NOT ISSUED ANY SPECIFIC XING SPD AND THAT WE HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED TO GO FAST/KEEP OUR SPD UP. APCH APPEARED TO GIVE US A DELAY/SEQUENCING VECTOR TO PUT US BEHIND A LARGE AIRLINER AND NOTHING MORE WAS SAID ON THE SUBJECT.
