Narrative:

We had been cleared direct to cqy and were subsequently given holding at capti. It was the first officer's leg and I saw him typing the intersection in the FMC. I erroneously assumed he was entering capti for the hold when in fact he put in tacke. They sound similar on the radio. I failed to check what he put in the FMC and thought everything was fine until queried by center why we didn't enter the hold. I then explained to center what had happened and they gave us vectors back to the arrival. In retrospect, the first officer should have checked the arrival plate more closely and he would have known that we wouldn't be holding at tacke. I was remiss in not checking that he put in the correct holding fix. Center was not concerned and said that there had been no conflicts because of our error.

Title: A FOKKER 100 FLC ENTERED HOLDING AT WRONG FIX AT DFW.

Narrative: WE HAD BEEN CLRED DIRECT TO CQY AND WERE SUBSEQUENTLY GIVEN HOLDING AT CAPTI. IT WAS THE FO'S LEG AND I SAW HIM TYPING THE INTXN IN THE FMC. I ERRONEOUSLY ASSUMED HE WAS ENTERING CAPTI FOR THE HOLD WHEN IN FACT HE PUT IN TACKE. THEY SOUND SIMILAR ON THE RADIO. I FAILED TO CHK WHAT HE PUT IN THE FMC AND THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL QUERIED BY CTR WHY WE DIDN'T ENTER THE HOLD. I THEN EXPLAINED TO CTR WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THEY GAVE US VECTORS BACK TO THE ARR. IN RETROSPECT, THE FO SHOULD HAVE CHKED THE ARR PLATE MORE CLOSELY AND HE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WE WOULDN'T BE HOLDING AT TACKE. I WAS REMISS IN NOT CHKING THAT HE PUT IN THE CORRECT HOLDING FIX. CTR WAS NOT CONCERNED AND SAID THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO CONFLICTS BECAUSE OF OUR ERROR.
