Narrative:
Departed ues at XA10, climbed to 11500 ft to cross over ord class B airspace, heading 159 degrees. Approximately 19 NM northeast of ord, observed large jet climbing directly toward us. Turned 35 degrees right to avoid and watched B747 pass at our altitude less than 1/2 mi on left. Do not believe B747 was aware -- no evasive action on his part. Reported incident to ord approach and requested VFR flight following code. Diverted east on 145 degree heading to avoid 'inlet' area described by approach control. Do not believe we violated any regulation. Transponder operating on 1200 at time of incident and well above controled airspace.
