Narrative:

Ord approach called VFR traffic at 2 O'clock and climbing VFR. We were at 6000 ft, traffic was 6300 ft or 300 ft above us. We were alerted by traffic alert TCASII and subsequent RA. We took evasive action by turning left and descending to 5600 ft in order to avoid conflict. Ord approach was advised about RA.

Title: AN ARRIVING B727 EVADES CLBING VFR TFC AFTER RECEIVING A TCASII RA. APCH CTL HAD ADVISED CREW OF THE TFC.

Narrative: ORD APCH CALLED VFR TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK AND CLBING VFR. WE WERE AT 6000 FT, TFC WAS 6300 FT OR 300 FT ABOVE US. WE WERE ALERTED BY TFC ALERT TCASII AND SUBSEQUENT RA. WE TOOK EVASIVE ACTION BY TURNING L AND DSNDING TO 5600 FT IN ORDER TO AVOID CONFLICT. ORD APCH WAS ADVISED ABOUT RA.
