Narrative:
Air carrier landed at ewr on runway 22L. After exiting on taxiway north, which is a high speed exit (taxiway idented after the incident), was instructed by the tower as follows: 'right turn on taxiway P, stay on this frequency.' this instruction was given as we were almost crossing taxiway P (idented after the fact). We followed a B737 which was crossing runway 22R and crossed. After crossing runway 22R we realized that we were on taxiway north and not on taxiway P. Contacted ground and proceeded to park.
