Narrative:
Once we were handed off to departure control, we were told to turn right to 180 degrees after departing runway 32. The first officer and I both heard the instructions and began our turn. Moments later, the controller said 'why aren't you in a left turn?' we said 'we thought you said right turn.' he then said 'don't worry, have a nice day.' we later heard somebody with the same call sign in the area, and we think the instructions may have been for the other guy. I don't think we got in trouble, but it sure got our attention. All instructions should be confirmed by the aircraft's full sign and company name -- all the time, by pilots and the controllers. I'll be more in tune to instructions in the future.

Narrative: ONCE WE WERE HANDED OFF TO DEP CTL, WE WERE TOLD TO TURN R TO 180 DEGS AFTER DEPARTING RWY 32. THE FO AND I BOTH HEARD THE INSTRUCTIONS AND BEGAN OUR TURN. MOMENTS LATER, THE CTLR SAID 'WHY AREN'T YOU IN A L TURN?' WE SAID 'WE THOUGHT YOU SAID R TURN.' HE THEN SAID 'DON'T WORRY, HAVE A NICE DAY.' WE LATER HEARD SOMEBODY WITH THE SAME CALL SIGN IN THE AREA, AND WE THINK THE INSTRUCTIONS MAY HAVE BEEN FOR THE OTHER GUY. I DON'T THINK WE GOT IN TROUBLE, BUT IT SURE GOT OUR ATTN. ALL INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE CONFIRMED BY THE ACFT'S FULL SIGN AND COMPANY NAME -- ALL THE TIME, BY PLTS AND THE CTLRS. I'LL BE MORE IN TUNE TO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE FUTURE.
