Narrative:

Navigating by radial (not airway) north from boiler and cleared to cross brave at 10000 ft, I was above the restr at brave. Cause: I didn't check the distance from boiler to brave and instead relied on the slowly decreasing (because it was at an angle) mileage to badger. Next time I'll check the distance from boiler. Supplemental information from acn 436952: I questioned whether or not he would make brave at 10000 ft and he responded that it would not be a problem. I then pointed out to him that we only had 8 mi to come down 8000 ft, and we crossed over brave intersection at 14000 ft. Lack of situational awareness I believe is the overall contributing problem. This particular captain always believes he is right, regardless of corrective advise.

Title: A FLC DID NOT CROSS BRAVE INTXN AT ASSIGNED ALT.

Narrative: NAVING BY RADIAL (NOT AIRWAY) N FROM BOILER AND CLRED TO CROSS BRAVE AT 10000 FT, I WAS ABOVE THE RESTR AT BRAVE. CAUSE: I DIDN'T CHK THE DISTANCE FROM BOILER TO BRAVE AND INSTEAD RELIED ON THE SLOWLY DECREASING (BECAUSE IT WAS AT AN ANGLE) MILEAGE TO BADGER. NEXT TIME I'LL CHK THE DISTANCE FROM BOILER. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 436952: I QUESTIONED WHETHER OR NOT HE WOULD MAKE BRAVE AT 10000 FT AND HE RESPONDED THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A PROB. I THEN POINTED OUT TO HIM THAT WE ONLY HAD 8 MI TO COME DOWN 8000 FT, AND WE CROSSED OVER BRAVE INTXN AT 14000 FT. LACK OF SITUATIONAL AWARENESS I BELIEVE IS THE OVERALL CONTRIBUTING PROB. THIS PARTICULAR CAPT ALWAYS BELIEVES HE IS RIGHT, REGARDLESS OF CORRECTIVE ADVISE.
