Narrative:
During descent, the first officer was flying and he got behind in the descent. I was helping him make the assigned crossing. I was distraction when passing FL180 and did not set the current setting in the altimeter. So when we were approaching 13000 ft and it looked like we were going to go through our assigned altitude. I stopped the descent and climb slightly. So we missed our crossing altitude by 300 ft.
