Narrative:
Flight was VFR from 26N (ocean city, nj) to gai (gaithersburg, md). No flight plan was filed. At approximately XA00 to XA15 EDT, during wbound en route phase of flight, radioed to bwi approach, asked for and received clearance into bravo airspace. Shortly thereafter controller advised me of imminent entry into the restr airspace. Radio dialogue went something like this: bwi approach: 'cessna are you aware you are about to enter restr airspace?' pilot: 'cessna requests vectors around the restr area.' bwi approach: 'cessna proceed on course to gaithersburg.' at that point I proceeded through and exited the restr area. The rest of the flight through bravo airspace and arrival at gai was nominal. Reason for violation was inattention to route of flight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CESSNA 172 PLT ENTERED RESTR AIRSPACE WITHOUT A CLRNC.
Narrative: FLT WAS VFR FROM 26N (OCEAN CITY, NJ) TO GAI (GAITHERSBURG, MD). NO FLT PLAN WAS FILED. AT APPROX XA00 TO XA15 EDT, DURING WBOUND ENRTE PHASE OF FLT, RADIOED TO BWI APCH, ASKED FOR AND RECEIVED CLRNC INTO BRAVO AIRSPACE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER CTLR ADVISED ME OF IMMINENT ENTRY INTO THE RESTR AIRSPACE. RADIO DIALOGUE WENT SOMETHING LIKE THIS: BWI APCH: 'CESSNA ARE YOU AWARE YOU ARE ABOUT TO ENTER RESTR AIRSPACE?' PLT: 'CESSNA REQUESTS VECTORS AROUND THE RESTR AREA.' BWI APCH: 'CESSNA PROCEED ON COURSE TO GAITHERSBURG.' AT THAT POINT I PROCEEDED THROUGH AND EXITED THE RESTR AREA. THE REST OF THE FLT THROUGH BRAVO AIRSPACE AND ARR AT GAI WAS NOMINAL. REASON FOR VIOLATION WAS INATTENTION TO RTE OF FLT.
