Narrative:
ZID gave us a vector for the climb. TCASII picked up subject aircraft a 1800 ft below us, while we continued our climb. Aircraft continued its climb up to approximately 1000 ft below us, then our TCASII produced an RA which we complied with to avoid aircraft. We increased our climb to avoid aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: DC9 RECEIVES VECTOR FROM ATC FOR CLB, THEN RECEIVES TCASII RA WHILE ON THE VECTOR.
Narrative: ZID GAVE US A VECTOR FOR THE CLB. TCASII PICKED UP SUBJECT ACFT A 1800 FT BELOW US, WHILE WE CONTINUED OUR CLB. ACFT CONTINUED ITS CLB UP TO APPROX 1000 FT BELOW US, THEN OUR TCASII PRODUCED AN RA WHICH WE COMPLIED WITH TO AVOID ACFT. WE INCREASED OUR CLB TO AVOID ACFT.
