Narrative:
Mco approach handed us off to orl tower and said there was traffic but they didn't know about it. Told to contact orl tower for information. Just after contact with tower we got a TCASII alert and then saw the airplane (cessna 172). We pulled up and passed 200 ft over the cessna. The little plane was hard to see because of shadowed area. We saw several other planes but had trouble with this one. Thunderstorms in area caused varying light conditions. We have TCASII and it doesn't always show all traffic unless it becomes a TA. This is an FAA mandated design requirement. There were a lot of other targets. The primary gauge of this incident is mco procedures that require them to vector us down to 1600 ft 15-20 mi out to be sure we are well clear of class B space. There are always a lot of trainers and sight-seers around ism and disney. I have had 2 of these events this yr and too many to count the times we pass very close. VFR pilots should not fly into the ILS final without talking to a controller.
