Narrative:
During visual approach at dtw runway 21L we executed a missed approach. During the climb out the #1 engine spooled down. Attempted a restart with no success. Return and landed runway 21L at dtw with no incident. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the engine was a P&west JT8D-15 and the flameout was caused by a failed fuel control unit.

Title: A B727-200 ON MAKING A GAR MANEUVER HAD THE #1 ENG FLAMEOUT CAUSED BY A FAILED FUEL CTL UNIT.
Narrative: DURING VISUAL APCH AT DTW RWY 21L WE EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. DURING THE CLBOUT THE #1 ENG SPOOLED DOWN. ATTEMPTED A RESTART WITH NO SUCCESS. RETURN AND LANDED RWY 21L AT DTW WITH NO INCIDENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ENG WAS A P&W JT8D-15 AND THE FLAMEOUT WAS CAUSED BY A FAILED FUEL CTL UNIT.
