Narrative:
On 330 degree intercept vector for runway 1R at iad, flew through runway 1R localizer because captain had runway 1L frequency tuned in. I was just switching to localizer runway 1R after providing DME information off of aml. Just as I was identing, controller issued cancel approach clearance, turn right to 090 degrees, maintain 3000 ft. Captain continued to fly past 090 degree heading to 130 degrees before being corrected by ATC and me. Just as this happened, we received an RA 'traffic, traffic.' by then we were on 90 degree heading and clear of traffic. Discussion of wake turbulence behind B747 may have distraction us, but overall it was me staying on aml for DME information, so I didn't catch the wrong frequency in #1 navigation in time. After that, we were a bit flustered and I didn't see the captain fly past the new 090 degree heading because I was reviewing my runway 1R ILS approach plate. Supplemental information from acn 440400: time permitting, I think all controllers should say 'cleared for the ILS runway) frequency (XXX.xx).
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR ON VECTOR FOR ILS HAD WRONG FREQ TUNED. MISSED LOC INTERCEPT AND DID NOT PRECISELY FOLLOW CTLR'S HDG FOR MISSED APCH RESULTING IN A TCASII ADVISORY.
Narrative: ON 330 DEG INTERCEPT VECTOR FOR RWY 1R AT IAD, FLEW THROUGH RWY 1R LOC BECAUSE CAPT HAD RWY 1L FREQ TUNED IN. I WAS JUST SWITCHING TO LOC RWY 1R AFTER PROVIDING DME INFO OFF OF AML. JUST AS I WAS IDENTING, CTLR ISSUED CANCEL APCH CLRNC, TURN R TO 090 DEGS, MAINTAIN 3000 FT. CAPT CONTINUED TO FLY PAST 090 DEG HDG TO 130 DEGS BEFORE BEING CORRECTED BY ATC AND ME. JUST AS THIS HAPPENED, WE RECEIVED AN RA 'TFC, TFC.' BY THEN WE WERE ON 90 DEG HDG AND CLR OF TFC. DISCUSSION OF WAKE TURB BEHIND B747 MAY HAVE DISTR US, BUT OVERALL IT WAS ME STAYING ON AML FOR DME INFO, SO I DIDN'T CATCH THE WRONG FREQ IN #1 NAV IN TIME. AFTER THAT, WE WERE A BIT FLUSTERED AND I DIDN'T SEE THE CAPT FLY PAST THE NEW 090 DEG HDG BECAUSE I WAS REVIEWING MY RWY 1R ILS APCH PLATE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 440400: TIME PERMITTING, I THINK ALL CTLRS SHOULD SAY 'CLRED FOR THE ILS RWY) FREQ (XXX.XX).
