Narrative:
Roughly 30 mins into the flight, the captain informed me that we would be either returning to bos or diverting to new york, because of a heading/navigation abnormality. He also advised that cabin preparations for an emergency landing would not be necessary, and that we should discontinue service and stow the cabin and prepare for a normal landing. We consequently had a normal landing in bos after 60 or so mins of circling.
