Narrative:

ATC instructed me to taxi to runway 13L via taxiway B5 and left turn at taxiway A3. In order to accomplish these instructions, it is necessary to cross runway 13L to make the left turn in to taxiway A3. I never received a hold short instruction or a cross runway instruction. As my understanding, I proceed to taxi onto runway 13L via the instructions noted above. I crossed runway 13L (no traffic observed). ATC notified me that I crossed runway 13L without clearance. I believe that every time ATC gives you a clearance like this one, it is imperative to instruct a hold short instruction or a runway cross instruction.

Title: PLT TAXIED ACROSS A RWY WITHOUT A CLRNC AT DAL.

Narrative: ATC INSTRUCTED ME TO TAXI TO RWY 13L VIA TXWY B5 AND L TURN AT TXWY A3. IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THESE INSTRUCTIONS, IT IS NECESSARY TO CROSS RWY 13L TO MAKE THE L TURN IN TO TXWY A3. I NEVER RECEIVED A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION OR A CROSS RWY INSTRUCTION. AS MY UNDERSTANDING, I PROCEED TO TAXI ONTO RWY 13L VIA THE INSTRUCTIONS NOTED ABOVE. I CROSSED RWY 13L (NO TFC OBSERVED). ATC NOTIFIED ME THAT I CROSSED RWY 13L WITHOUT CLRNC. I BELIEVE THAT EVERY TIME ATC GIVES YOU A CLRNC LIKE THIS ONE, IT IS IMPERATIVE TO INSTRUCT A HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTION OR A RWY CROSS INSTRUCTION.
