Narrative:
Location: after takeoff from runway 32L heading approximately 090 degrees on vector, captain (acting as PF) was leveling at 5000 ft and was given a turn to 120 degrees from 090 degrees. To avoid a cumulus cloud, captain elected to continue on 090 degrees, but updraft from abeam the cloud induced a rapid climb to 5400 ft. Corrective action to return to 5000 ft induced additional speed to greater than 250 KTS. Ord departure recognized altitude difference and issued a climb to 6000 ft. We were then clear of the WX and proceeded en route to pvd. Autoplt was not engaged at any time during this evolution in anticipation of a possible need to exercise emergency authority/authorized should the immediate control of the airport be required. Fortunately, a small delay in the turn to the new assigned heading and disengagement of the autothrottles precluded a greater altitude and speed excursion.

Title: ACR DID NOT FLY ASSIGNED HDG ACCOUNT WX, ENCOUNTERED TURB, DEVIATED FROM ASSIGNED ALT AND MAX SPD BELOW 10000 FT. CTLR NOTICED AND REASSIGNED NEW ALT.
Narrative: LOCATION: AFTER TKOF FROM RWY 32L HDG APPROX 090 DEGS ON VECTOR, CAPT (ACTING AS PF) WAS LEVELING AT 5000 FT AND WAS GIVEN A TURN TO 120 DEGS FROM 090 DEGS. TO AVOID A CUMULUS CLOUD, CAPT ELECTED TO CONTINUE ON 090 DEGS, BUT UPDRAFT FROM ABEAM THE CLOUD INDUCED A RAPID CLB TO 5400 FT. CORRECTIVE ACTION TO RETURN TO 5000 FT INDUCED ADDITIONAL SPD TO GREATER THAN 250 KTS. ORD DEP RECOGNIZED ALT DIFFERENCE AND ISSUED A CLB TO 6000 FT. WE WERE THEN CLR OF THE WX AND PROCEEDED ENRTE TO PVD. AUTOPLT WAS NOT ENGAGED AT ANY TIME DURING THIS EVOLUTION IN ANTICIPATION OF A POSSIBLE NEED TO EXERCISE EMER AUTH SHOULD THE IMMEDIATE CTL OF THE ARPT BE REQUIRED. FORTUNATELY, A SMALL DELAY IN THE TURN TO THE NEW ASSIGNED HDG AND DISENGAGEMENT OF THE AUTOTHROTTLES PRECLUDED A GREATER ALT AND SPD EXCURSION.
