Narrative:
I was taxiing for takeoff when I got a status message reading 'elevator PCU.' I stopped taxi and called maintenance control after making an entry in the logbook. They instructed me attempt to erase the status message by pushing the 'automatic, erase' buttons on the maintenance panel in the cockpit. We erased the message as instructed and maintenance control gave me a deferred item which I entered in the logbook. We then took off.
