Narrative:

On departure from runway 22R in bos, landing gear retracted normally. However, red 'gear unsafe' light for right main gear stayed on. Checked QRH, no problems listed for this light. Climbed only to 8000 ft. Talked with maintenance on ground via radio in bos who in turn was talking to maintenance control in pit. We cycled the gear and the light remained illuminated. Flew around for approximately 25-30 mins to burn off fuel to get down to our maximum landing weight of 105000 pounds. Shot a normal visual approach to runway 22L at bos. Normal landing and taxi in. Maintenance took airplane from this point after parked at gate and passenger deplaned.
