Narrative:

On a #2 layover on an L1011-250 a co-worker and I replaced the 2R main landing gear tire because of worn limits. Instead of putting on an L1011-250 tire, I replaced it with an L1011-100 tire. I was not aware of the differences. I have looked in the maintenance manual and read where the differences are for each series. It was discovered by the wheel shop that the serial numbers weren't right and they sent notice to maintenance control and the duty mgrs. It was changed before the flight and caused no delay.
