Narrative:
On climb out of buf, ZOB, traffic was called out by the controller. A visual was established. Clearance given to maintain visual and climb to 17000 ft. We departed 13000 ft for 17000 ft maintain visual separation. We passed no closer than 1 mi at any time and passed through the other aircraft's altitude (14000 ft). We heard the other aircraft report an RA with deviations. However, at no time was there any chance of less than 1 mi and 1000 ft separation.

Title: WITH ATC USING VISUAL SEPARATION DURING CLB, ONE OF THE ACFT RECEIVED A TCASII RA.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT OF BUF, ZOB, TFC WAS CALLED OUT BY THE CTLR. A VISUAL WAS ESTABLISHED. CLRNC GIVEN TO MAINTAIN VISUAL AND CLB TO 17000 FT. WE DEPARTED 13000 FT FOR 17000 FT MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION. WE PASSED NO CLOSER THAN 1 MI AT ANY TIME AND PASSED THROUGH THE OTHER ACFT'S ALT (14000 FT). WE HEARD THE OTHER ACFT RPT AN RA WITH DEVS. HOWEVER, AT NO TIME WAS THERE ANY CHANCE OF LESS THAN 1 MI AND 1000 FT SEPARATION.
