Narrative:

I heard loud scraping noise while doing safety checks for landing. I informed flight attendant #2 and she informed the cockpit. The captain announced that we were declaring an emergency landing, as a safety precaution and ensured passenger that it was just a precaution. Flight attendants did another safety check after announcement. We landed without incident. Loud humming noises and floor vibrations happened on taxi to the gate. Supervisors met the aircraft to ensure flight attendants were ok. Cockpit crew was wonderful. They kept passenger informed of situation at all times. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated that the captain declared an emergency for ATC clearance, and that the cabin attendants did not prepare the cabin for evacuate/evacuation. She heard a mechanic passenger say that he thought it was a hydraulic problem, but that she never knew the definitive assessment. The plane was taken OTS. The pilots did a great job in communication with the passenger and cabin crew, so that there was only minimal panic.
