Narrative:
Descent from FL330 to FL270 with instructions to cross bdf VOR at FL240. Clearance was pilot's discretion out of FL270. This was the 4TH leg of the day, the 7TH flight hour and the 10TH hour of duty time. Descended aircraft to FL270, leveled off with intention of continuing descent to FL240 approximately 12 mi from bdf VOR. Leveloff at FL270 was about 40 NM from bdf. Copilot and I noticed we had not started down at about 6 NM from bdf. Autoplt was on. I initiated descent immediately to FL240. Crossed bdf VOR at FL250 descending. ATC issued clearance at bdf to continue descent to 11000 ft. Flight continued uneventful. I am not sure what caused the distraction and late descent. Normal preparation for approach duties and conversation. Lesson learned: sooner is better than later. Now is better than never.

Title: LGT XING RESTR NOT MET OVER BDF.
Narrative: DSCNT FROM FL330 TO FL270 WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO CROSS BDF VOR AT FL240. CLRNC WAS PLT'S DISCRETION OUT OF FL270. THIS WAS THE 4TH LEG OF THE DAY, THE 7TH FLT HR AND THE 10TH HR OF DUTY TIME. DSNDED ACFT TO FL270, LEVELED OFF WITH INTENTION OF CONTINUING DSCNT TO FL240 APPROX 12 MI FROM BDF VOR. LEVELOFF AT FL270 WAS ABOUT 40 NM FROM BDF. COPLT AND I NOTICED WE HAD NOT STARTED DOWN AT ABOUT 6 NM FROM BDF. AUTOPLT WAS ON. I INITIATED DSCNT IMMEDIATELY TO FL240. CROSSED BDF VOR AT FL250 DSNDING. ATC ISSUED CLRNC AT BDF TO CONTINUE DSCNT TO 11000 FT. FLT CONTINUED UNEVENTFUL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE DISTR AND LATE DSCNT. NORMAL PREPARATION FOR APCH DUTIES AND CONVERSATION. LESSON LEARNED: SOONER IS BETTER THAN LATER. NOW IS BETTER THAN NEVER.
