Narrative:

I landed at lyh on an instrument flight plan and had switched my selector to VOR #1 for the ILS. The selector has VOR #1, VOR #2 and LORAN -- that's for the autoplt, and stec 50. When I departed I believed my selector was on LORAN when it was still on VOR #1. On climb out I was concentrating on my engine settings and did not notice my heading was about 160 degrees when it should have been 214 degrees. Either the tower or roanoke departure called me and I corrected the situation. I was only a couple mins in the air and would have noticed the situation when I stabilized the climb out.
