Narrative:

On departure out of ont on the prado 5 departure, we were given an altitude of 5000 ft MSL which we arrived at and maintained. Just past pdz, traffic was called out by approach at 5500 ft. As we approached the traffic, the TCASII called an RA and commanded a descent, which the PF obeyed. We descended approximately 500 ft to avoid the traffic (a low wing single engine aircraft). We returned to 5000 ft when clear of traffic and advised socal departure. It appeared to us that the other aircraft was not at 5500 ft as indicated by socal either due to equipment errors or due to the aircraft initiating a descent.

Title: AN ACR FLC DSNDS THEIR ACFT WHEN RECEIVING A TCASII RA ON SMA TFC IN SIGHT AHEAD, SAME DIRECTION, 500 FT HIGHER SE OF PDZ, CA.

Narrative: ON DEP OUT OF ONT ON THE PRADO 5 DEP, WE WERE GIVEN AN ALT OF 5000 FT MSL WHICH WE ARRIVED AT AND MAINTAINED. JUST PAST PDZ, TFC WAS CALLED OUT BY APCH AT 5500 FT. AS WE APCHED THE TFC, THE TCASII CALLED AN RA AND COMMANDED A DSCNT, WHICH THE PF OBEYED. WE DSNDED APPROX 500 FT TO AVOID THE TFC (A LOW WING SINGLE ENG ACFT). WE RETURNED TO 5000 FT WHEN CLR OF TFC AND ADVISED SOCAL DEP. IT APPEARED TO US THAT THE OTHER ACFT WAS NOT AT 5500 FT AS INDICATED BY SOCAL EITHER DUE TO EQUIP ERRORS OR DUE TO THE ACFT INITIATING A DSCNT.
