Narrative:

We were on the arrival to ord on the kokomi 1 arrival from clt to ord. ZAU cleared us on descent from FL240 to 11000 ft saying not to delay in the descent and to keep the speed at 310 KTS. Prior to leveloff at 11000 ft, 12-15 mi ssw of bearz intersection, we had a TA, followed by an RA to 'descend, descend,' which I followed for about 300 ft until clear of conflict. At the same time, ATC told us to stop descent. The traffic in conflict was another carrier following a climb RA they had from a VFR aircraft at 9500 ft. They came within 300 ft vertical, according to TCASII, but neither the first officer nor I had a visual with the aircraft. We never had to go below 11000 ft, by more than 100 ft once we were cleared of the conflict.
