Narrative:
Climbing through FL240, we smelled electrical smoke in the cockpit. We turned off utility bus switches as the flight attendant came up and said they smelled smoke in the cabin. We declared an emergency and returned to mia. We performed electrical smoke unknown source checklist. Smoke smell diminished so we had fire trucks follow us to the gate.
