Narrative:
Pushback without clearance. When ready to push we called company operations and they gave us clearance to push. Ground crew stopped push because flight Y was behind us. We had pushed 5 ft. We contacted ground and they told us that we had pushed without clearance. After rereading company operations page we found out that we needed to contact ground for push. The page is confusing. There is a reference to contact company Y ramp control if you are on gates xb and xc. Buried under that reference is the instruction to contact sfo ground control for push. It would help if this was in bold type or put on the first line of the departure text.
