Narrative:
We hit turbulence around aus and I flew out of my seat and hit overhead bin with my head/neck. I was met by EMS in aus and taken to the emergency room for x-rays. I was not severely injured, only pulled/strained muscles in neck. All could have been avoided if I had had my seatbelt on. Supplemental information from acn 450612: seatbelt sign on. Smooth and level flight deteriorated rapidly. Approximately 5 second progression to severe. As I moved to aisle seat, I heard the impact of flight attendant (deadheader) hitting overhead bin.
