Narrative:
Flight level cruise and expecting descent, called center with request for lower. Was advised on wrong frequency and given correct frequency for ZLA. As well as better confirmation by ATC for readback, if handoff given, more diligence required by crew.

Title: FLC OF A SUPER MD80 FAILED TO RESPOND TO ARTCC CTLR HDOF TO ANOTHER CTLR RESULTING IN MAKING A DELAYED DSCNT FROM THEIR CRUISING ALT SINCE THEY DID NOT HAVE THE NEW CTLR'S FREQ.
Narrative: FLT LEVEL CRUISE AND EXPECTING DSCNT, CALLED CTR WITH REQUEST FOR LOWER. WAS ADVISED ON WRONG FREQ AND GIVEN CORRECT FREQ FOR ZLA. AS WELL AS BETTER CONFIRMATION BY ATC FOR READBACK, IF HDOF GIVEN, MORE DILIGENCE REQUIRED BY CREW.
