Narrative:
XA15Z, FL410, ZKC, mci 060 degree radial 85 DME. En route at FL410 in cruise, ZKC issued 'turn left immediately 30 degrees,' followed immediately by 'traffic, traffic' at our altitude. Autoplt off and complied. Gained 183 ft in the turn looking at TCASII and outside. Upon rollout, center said 'cleared on course,' no heading to intercept -- center was obviously shaken. Asked what happened. Center replied 'we are in a new room here and are busy.' there was a breakdown somewhere in the system as we and aircraft Y came within 30-40 seconds of one another -- both at FL410.
