Narrative:
Departed mkc, cruised under kansas city class B airspace, left 2000 ft MSL to climb to 6500 ft. Started climb near inside edge of outside class B ring. The floor here is 4000 ft. I figured that my climb performance would not allow myself to violate (penetrate) the airspace or go above 4000 ft MSL before I was outside (horizontally) the class B airspace. When I obtained 6500 ft MSL, I noticed I was about 4 mi outside the class B airspace. I may have violated the airspace. Retrospectively, I would be more observant, figured in the headwind, and kept closer track of position.
