Narrative:
Aircraft #1 on husky visual runway 16R #2 inbound from northwest for runway 16L. Both aircraft at 3000 ft. Both aircraft flight paths crossed causing aircraft #1 to get a TCASII RA event 'descend.' this could have been avoided if aircraft #1 was given visual runway 16L and #2 runway 16R. This scenario is a common scenario at seatac international.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MD80 AND DH8 WERE DIRECTED TO CROSS EACH OTHER'S TRACK AT SEA WHILE ALIGNING FOR RWYS 16L&R. THIS RESULTED IN A TCASII RA.
Narrative: ACFT #1 ON HUSKY VISUAL RWY 16R #2 INBOUND FROM NW FOR RWY 16L. BOTH ACFT AT 3000 FT. BOTH ACFT FLT PATHS CROSSED CAUSING ACFT #1 TO GET A TCASII RA EVENT 'DSND.' THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF ACFT #1 WAS GIVEN VISUAL RWY 16L AND #2 RWY 16R. THIS SCENARIO IS A COMMON SCENARIO AT SEATAC INTL.
