Narrative:
Holding runway 9R pad at ord for departure to lga. After approximately 2 hour hold, taxied back to gate, informed tower of intentions. Tower gave taxi instructions, I believe, to cross runway 32L at taxiway M, contact ground other side. Corp jet given taxi and hold instructions at runway 32L, intersection T10. Some confusion about our taxi instructions because corp jet said we accepted his instructions. Captain taxied to runway 32R, intersection T10. Corp jet on other side east at intersection T10. Aircraft stopped short of runway but past hold short line. Questioned tower. Tower asked if we were on runway. We said affirmative and were given instructions to turn right on runway 32L, left on taxiway M, taxiway M contact ground. Numerous factors contributed: 1) lengthy delay, 2) taxi back, not confirming tower instructions, 3) corp jet saying we took their clearance, 4) coordination with ramp about our return to the gate, 5) talking about return to get our efc time, 6) dispatch about topping off fuel tanks. Corp was given a hold short of runway 32L, intersection T10 and we proceeded to taxi clear with no conflicts. To have prevented this situation, all we would have to do would be to devote our primary attention to the current job at hand, which was taxiing the airplane back to the gate. We would have confirmed our taxi instructions and this would not have happened.

Title: AN ACR TWIN JET FLC EXPERIENCES A RWY INCURSION AT ORD, IL.
Narrative: HOLDING RWY 9R PAD AT ORD FOR DEP TO LGA. AFTER APPROX 2 HR HOLD, TAXIED BACK TO GATE, INFORMED TWR OF INTENTIONS. TWR GAVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, I BELIEVE, TO CROSS RWY 32L AT TXWY M, CONTACT GND OTHER SIDE. CORP JET GIVEN TAXI AND HOLD INSTRUCTIONS AT RWY 32L, INTXN T10. SOME CONFUSION ABOUT OUR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS BECAUSE CORP JET SAID WE ACCEPTED HIS INSTRUCTIONS. CAPT TAXIED TO RWY 32R, INTXN T10. CORP JET ON OTHER SIDE E AT INTXN T10. ACFT STOPPED SHORT OF RWY BUT PAST HOLD SHORT LINE. QUESTIONED TWR. TWR ASKED IF WE WERE ON RWY. WE SAID AFFIRMATIVE AND WERE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN R ON RWY 32L, L ON TXWY M, TXWY M CONTACT GND. NUMEROUS FACTORS CONTRIBUTED: 1) LENGTHY DELAY, 2) TAXI BACK, NOT CONFIRMING TWR INSTRUCTIONS, 3) CORP JET SAYING WE TOOK THEIR CLRNC, 4) COORD WITH RAMP ABOUT OUR RETURN TO THE GATE, 5) TALKING ABOUT RETURN TO GET OUR EFC TIME, 6) DISPATCH ABOUT TOPPING OFF FUEL TANKS. CORP WAS GIVEN A HOLD SHORT OF RWY 32L, INTXN T10 AND WE PROCEEDED TO TAXI CLR WITH NO CONFLICTS. TO HAVE PREVENTED THIS SIT, ALL WE WOULD HAVE TO DO WOULD BE TO DEVOTE OUR PRIMARY ATTN TO THE CURRENT JOB AT HAND, WHICH WAS TAXIING THE AIRPLANE BACK TO THE GATE. WE WOULD HAVE CONFIRMED OUR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
