Narrative:
Issued taxi clearance to runway 30L via taxiway Y to hold short of intersection C. There was construction southeast of taxiway C on taxiway Y. We were instructed to cross runway 30R and hold short of runway 30L. A moment later we were cleared across runway 30L to follow a bizjet on taxiway west to runway 30L. After complying with those instructions, and upon entering taxiway west, we became concerned that taxiway west was unsuitable. Review of the 10-9 and 10-7W charts in the commercial charts confirmed our doubts. We should have refused the clearance to cross runway 30L until we were certain that taxiway west was suitable for our aircraft.

Title: AN MD80 FLC TAXIES ON A TXWY THAT WAS ONLY DESIGNED FOR A 75000 LB ACFT, MAX, AT SJC, CA.
Narrative: ISSUED TAXI CLRNC TO RWY 30L VIA TXWY Y TO HOLD SHORT OF INTXN C. THERE WAS CONSTRUCTION SE OF TXWY C ON TXWY Y. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO CROSS RWY 30R AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 30L. A MOMENT LATER WE WERE CLRED ACROSS RWY 30L TO FOLLOW A BIZJET ON TXWY W TO RWY 30L. AFTER COMPLYING WITH THOSE INSTRUCTIONS, AND UPON ENTERING TXWY W, WE BECAME CONCERNED THAT TXWY W WAS UNSUITABLE. REVIEW OF THE 10-9 AND 10-7W CHARTS IN THE COMMERCIAL CHARTS CONFIRMED OUR DOUBTS. WE SHOULD HAVE REFUSED THE CLRNC TO CROSS RWY 30L UNTIL WE WERE CERTAIN THAT TXWY W WAS SUITABLE FOR OUR ACFT.
