Narrative:
At cruise flight FL370, #1 engine compressor stalled and overtemped. Engine failure checklist completed and #1 engine was shut down. Declared emergency and was reclred to sea via A331 at FL270. We asked ATC to have emergency equipment standing by at seatac. Landing was uneventful.

Narrative: AT CRUISE FLT FL370, #1 ENG COMPRESSOR STALLED AND OVERTEMPED. ENG FAILURE CHKLIST COMPLETED AND #1 ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. DECLARED EMER AND WAS RECLRED TO SEA VIA A331 AT FL270. WE ASKED ATC TO HAVE EMER EQUIP STANDING BY AT SEATAC. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL.
