Narrative:

Altitude deviation. The company had requested an autoland on this aircraft. We were on the jen 5 arrival to dfw, at 11000 ft. The first officer was flying the aircraft. Past the jen VOR, I was briefing the first officer on the autoland approach. I heard and read back to ATC 'air carrier abc maintain 5000 ft.' at 9000 ft, the first officer requested that I should verify the altitude. The first officer leveled off at 9000 ft. I requested that ATC verify the altitude. He informed us that the clearance had not been for us. A few seconds later, we heard an air carrier abd and an air carrier ebc on the same frequency. ATC then cleared us to 7000 ft and vectors. At no time was there any conflict with other aircraft.
