Narrative:
Air carrier aircraft xyz was pushed back from gate Z at ZZZ. Aircraft struck jetway at gate Z resulting in scratch/gouge approximately 18 ft long and approximately 1/16 inches deep. Aircraft maintenance controller called and notified of problem. Maintenance control recommended following structural repair manual 53-00-01. This was accomplished and aircraft was allowed to continue per structural repair manual 53-00-01 item 1. After aircraft was in air, I realized that I had used the wrong item number from structural repair manual 53-00-01. I should have used item 2 for damage limit. Instead I used item 1 and obtained the wrong limits. I immediately called the maintenance controller to convey the mistake. The aircraft continued through abc to XXX, back to abc. Was re-evaluated in abc and found to be out of limits and the aircraft was ferried to xwx for repair. The aircraft remains in xwx for repair and is estimated to be returned to service XA00 on jan/xa/00.

Narrative: ACR ACFT XYZ WAS PUSHED BACK FROM GATE Z AT ZZZ. ACFT STRUCK JETWAY AT GATE Z RESULTING IN SCRATCH/GOUGE APPROX 18 FT LONG AND APPROX 1/16 INCHES DEEP. ACFT MAINT CTLR CALLED AND NOTIFIED OF PROB. MAINT CTL RECOMMENDED FOLLOWING STRUCTURAL REPAIR MANUAL 53-00-01. INSTEAD I USED ITEM 1 AND OBTAINED THE WRONG LIMITS. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE MAINT CTLR TO CONVEY THE MISTAKE. THE ACFT CONTINUED THROUGH ABC TO XXX, BACK TO ABC. WAS RE-EVALUATED IN ABC AND FOUND TO BE OUT OF LIMITS AND THE ACFT WAS FERRIED TO XWX FOR REPAIR. THE ACFT REMAINS IN XWX FOR REPAIR AND IS ESTIMATED TO BE RETURNED TO SVC XA00 ON JAN/XA/00.
