Narrative:

Maximum power takeoff compressor stall in left engine aborted takeoff at 115 KTS. Exited runway, returned to gate. Airplane taken OTS. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the aircraft was pwred with 2 P&west JT8D-217 engines. The reporter said the cause of the engine stall was ingestion of a section of the inlet nose cowl sound suppressor. The reporter stated maintenance advised the next day the engine was being borescope inspected for interior damage and no decision was made at that time to replace the engine.

Narrative: MAX PWR TKOF COMPRESSOR STALL IN L ENG ABORTED TKOF AT 115 KTS. EXITED RWY, RETURNED TO GATE. AIRPLANE TAKEN OTS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACFT WAS PWRED WITH 2 P&W JT8D-217 ENGS. THE RPTR SAID THE CAUSE OF THE ENG STALL WAS INGESTION OF A SECTION OF THE INLET NOSE COWL SOUND SUPPRESSOR. THE RPTR STATED MAINT ADVISED THE NEXT DAY THE ENG WAS BEING BORESCOPE INSPECTED FOR INTERIOR DAMAGE AND NO DECISION WAS MADE AT THAT TIME TO REPLACE THE ENG.
