Narrative:
The flight to chicago from orange county was delayed that day due to thunderstorms in the area. Several times ord was closed. We circled, and eventually in need of fueling, were told to divert to detroit. During this time, we had a passenger in first class who complained of shortness of breath and tightness in his chest after he was queried as to why he requested aspirin. In reporting this to the captain, he requested the diversion to rochester, mn, to expedite landing more quickly and to place the passenger closer to a medical facility. The paramedics meeting the aircraft confirmed the passenger was having a heart attack and transported him to the mayo clinic.
