Narrative:
Departing to the north from clt on the hornet 1 departure from runway 36L, copilot briefed SID but failed to make the turn to 330 degree heading at 2.5 DME. Discovered when departure control asked our heading and reminded us that the SID required a left turn. I was busy doing the after takeoff check and didn't notice the deviation. Corrective action: more closely monitor PF. Have SID page in a prominent place where it can be monitored during the procedure.
