Narrative:
During descent into sav, approach directed us to turn to a 090 degree heading and descend to 8000 ft. At the same time ATC reported traffic at 10-11 O'clock at 7000 ft. When we rolled out of the turn and leveled off we saw on TCASII target X at 11-12 O'clock -- not at 7000 ft, but closer to 8000 ft. Approach gave us a turn to 180 degrees and we immediately disengaged the autoplt and initiated a 30 degree angle of bank turn to 180 degrees. While in the turn we received an RA to climb. At approximately 8300 ft the RA alert subsided and we returned to 8000 ft. During the turn/climb the captain gained visual contact with target X and estimated the closest point of approach to be 1/2 mi. Marvelous gadget that TCASII!

Title: CLOSE ENCOUNTER FOR AN ACR AND A LIGHT ACFT NEAR SAV.
Narrative: DURING DSCNT INTO SAV, APCH DIRECTED US TO TURN TO A 090 DEG HDG AND DSND TO 8000 FT. AT THE SAME TIME ATC RPTED TFC AT 10-11 O'CLOCK AT 7000 FT. WHEN WE ROLLED OUT OF THE TURN AND LEVELED OFF WE SAW ON TCASII TARGET X AT 11-12 O'CLOCK -- NOT AT 7000 FT, BUT CLOSER TO 8000 FT. APCH GAVE US A TURN TO 180 DEGS AND WE IMMEDIATELY DISENGAGED THE AUTOPLT AND INITIATED A 30 DEG ANGLE OF BANK TURN TO 180 DEGS. WHILE IN THE TURN WE RECEIVED AN RA TO CLB. AT APPROX 8300 FT THE RA ALERT SUBSIDED AND WE RETURNED TO 8000 FT. DURING THE TURN/CLB THE CAPT GAINED VISUAL CONTACT WITH TARGET X AND ESTIMATED THE CLOSEST POINT OF APCH TO BE 1/2 MI. MARVELOUS GADGET THAT TCASII!
