Narrative:
I was dispatched to ZZZ from XXX to repair an MD88 stabilizer trim problem. Prior to dispatch I was briefed that a previous maintenance crew had replaced the manual control link rod and the rig was suspect. After arriving at ZZZ the maintenance coordinator informed me that the stabilizer trim actuator primary motor was also set up to be replaced. I replaced the motor and signed the item off in the logbook. I did not ask the coordinator about the replacement being an rii item. Since the subject did not come up I assumed it was not. The item was signed off on feb/wed/00. I returned to work on feb/thu/00, and after reviewing events of the previous day, asked the inspector, foreman, if the replacement was rii. He responded 'yes' and I immediately contacted my supervision and maintenance coordination. Maintenance coordinator xa xyz immediately issued an inspection on the component to be completed before the next flight.
