Narrative:
Several yrs ago, I was repositioning a car from my home in minnesota to my home in texas. I brought a .32 caliber pistol along for security. I wanted to return the gun to my home in minnesota and decided to put it in a suitcase and check it as 'checked baggage.' I was unaware that I was required to declare the weapon. I did, however, have the ammunition in a separate location (in the same bag) from the firearm. When I arrived at the airport in minnesota, I proceeded to baggage claim to claim my suitcase. I needed to then proceed through an FAA security chkpoint, in order to ride my airline's employee bus to pick up my car. I was totally unaware of the weapon in my suitcase, as I forgot I had put it there the night before. Had I remembered it was in my suitcase, I would have gone for my car first and returned to the airport to claim the suitcase to avoid having to go through an x-ray machine. This was an oversight on my part, not intentional at all.

Title: AN OFF DUTY ACR CAPT IS FOUND TO HAVE A PT 32 CALIBER PISTOL IN HIS BAGGAGE WHILE GOING THROUGH THE SECURITY CHK AREA FOR ENTRY TO THE CREW BUS AT MSP, MN.
Narrative: SEVERAL YRS AGO, I WAS REPOSITIONING A CAR FROM MY HOME IN MINNESOTA TO MY HOME IN TEXAS. I BROUGHT A .32 CALIBER PISTOL ALONG FOR SECURITY. I WANTED TO RETURN THE GUN TO MY HOME IN MINNESOTA AND DECIDED TO PUT IT IN A SUITCASE AND CHK IT AS 'CHKED BAGGAGE.' I WAS UNAWARE THAT I WAS REQUIRED TO DECLARE THE WEAPON. I DID, HOWEVER, HAVE THE AMMUNITION IN A SEPARATE LOCATION (IN THE SAME BAG) FROM THE FIREARM. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE ARPT IN MINNESOTA, I PROCEEDED TO BAGGAGE CLAIM TO CLAIM MY SUITCASE. HAD I REMEMBERED IT WAS IN MY SUITCASE, I WOULD HAVE GONE FOR MY CAR FIRST AND RETURNED TO THE ARPT TO CLAIM THE SUITCASE TO AVOID HAVING TO GO THROUGH AN X-RAY MACHINE. THIS WAS AN OVERSIGHT ON MY PART, NOT INTENTIONAL AT ALL.
