Narrative:

Dfw west and east ground at spot for taxi. Ground control 121.85 instructed turn right on taxiway G hold short taxiway X. Northbound on taxiway G, told turn right on taxiway Y for runway 17R, contact ground 121.65 crossing bridge. No standard taxi route given in either clearance. Unable to contact ground crossing bridge due to frequency congestion. Continued east on taxiway Y and held short of taxiway J. Ground control told an ATR that we cut him off and should not have crossed past jy. I don't recall the ATR even taxiing at spot X when we passed by taxiway jy, otherwise I would have stopped and let him pass ahead of us. I realize the standard taxi route runway 17R bridge states to hold short of taxiway jy, but not given that routing may have led to some confusion and I did not want to hold up traffic that may have been following us across the bridge. I don't think this situation caused any safety problem for us or the controller, but in the future will clarify any clearance that does not contain a standard taxi route. Supplemental information from acn 464723: ground control frequency was extremely congested and we had to wait for ground to call us. In the process we held short of taxiway J on taxiway Y. At the time we passed taxiway jy there were no aircraft near taxiway jy. Our concern was to clear taxiway jy for aircraft to enter parking in the north area. The ground controller must have thought we were given runway 17R bridge taxi instructions and was to hold short of taxiway jy. I was going to explain but due to the radio traffic did not want to add to an existing problem. I know there was not a safety problem, but do believe that communication between west and east controllers on taxi instructions will provide a smoother and friendlier flow of traffic.

Title: A TAXIING FK100, ACFT X, CREW CUTS OFF A TAXIING ATR WHEN THE CREW OF ACFT X FAILS TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY JY AT DFW, TX.

Narrative: DFW W AND E GND AT SPOT FOR TAXI. GND CTL 121.85 INSTRUCTED TURN R ON TXWY G HOLD SHORT TXWY X. NBOUND ON TXWY G, TOLD TURN R ON TXWY Y FOR RWY 17R, CONTACT GND 121.65 XING BRIDGE. NO STANDARD TAXI RTE GIVEN IN EITHER CLRNC. UNABLE TO CONTACT GND XING BRIDGE DUE TO FREQ CONGESTION. CONTINUED E ON TXWY Y AND HELD SHORT OF TXWY J. GND CTL TOLD AN ATR THAT WE CUT HIM OFF AND SHOULD NOT HAVE CROSSED PAST JY. I DON'T RECALL THE ATR EVEN TAXIING AT SPOT X WHEN WE PASSED BY TXWY JY, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE STOPPED AND LET HIM PASS AHEAD OF US. I REALIZE THE STANDARD TAXI RTE RWY 17R BRIDGE STATES TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY JY, BUT NOT GIVEN THAT ROUTING MAY HAVE LED TO SOME CONFUSION AND I DID NOT WANT TO HOLD UP TFC THAT MAY HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING US ACROSS THE BRIDGE. I DON'T THINK THIS SIT CAUSED ANY SAFETY PROB FOR US OR THE CTLR, BUT IN THE FUTURE WILL CLARIFY ANY CLRNC THAT DOES NOT CONTAIN A STANDARD TAXI RTE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 464723: GND CTL FREQ WAS EXTREMELY CONGESTED AND WE HAD TO WAIT FOR GND TO CALL US. IN THE PROCESS WE HELD SHORT OF TXWY J ON TXWY Y. AT THE TIME WE PASSED TXWY JY THERE WERE NO ACFT NEAR TXWY JY. OUR CONCERN WAS TO CLR TXWY JY FOR ACFT TO ENTER PARKING IN THE N AREA. THE GND CTLR MUST HAVE THOUGHT WE WERE GIVEN RWY 17R BRIDGE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS AND WAS TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY JY. I WAS GOING TO EXPLAIN BUT DUE TO THE RADIO TFC DID NOT WANT TO ADD TO AN EXISTING PROB. I KNOW THERE WAS NOT A SAFETY PROB, BUT DO BELIEVE THAT COM BTWN W AND E CTLRS ON TAXI INSTRUCTIONS WILL PROVIDE A SMOOTHER AND FRIENDLIER FLOW OF TFC.
